The launch of this campaign in 2022 was initiated by Amref Tanzania in partnership with the Ministry of Health Zanzibar. These joint efforts had set a goal to mobilize various partners, supporters and the public to contribute medical equipment valued at one billion Tanzanian Shillings (TZS 1,000,000,000) over a three-year period from 2022 to 2024.
The Uzazi ni Maisha initiative intends to raise awareness on the prominence of having enough medical equipment and supplies for safe delivery, engaging public and other partners to support in purchasing and disseminating these equipment and supplies.
The health facilities in high demand of the medical equipment in five regions were identified by the Ministry of Health which are Mjini Magharibi, Kaskazini Unguja, Kusini Unguja, Kusini Pemba and Kaskazini Pemba. The official guest of honor for the 2022 and 2023 Wogging was the President of Zanzibar, His Excellency Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi where about 3000+ woggers and sponsors participated in this life saving event.
